Donald G. Nicolas

Donald G. Nicolas is a proud graduate of the Florida State University, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. He is currently pursuing his Doctor of Education at the University of Florida. He is sincerely passionate about issues of equity in education and ensuring that teacher’s voices are heard, particularly those who teach in underserved communities.

He is currently an educator at an elementary school in South Florida.  He has been involved in the field of education for over a decade and cares deeply about the needs of our students, both locally and nationally. He has served in various capacities in the education field both within the school and the community, including as an administrator, Equity Liaison, Mentorship Chair of the College Tour Program for the Urban and League of Broward County Young Professionals Network among other roles dealing specifically with youth.

In 2016, he was selected as a Florida Teacher Leader Fellow which identified and selected leaders in their perspective districts to participate in a program which focused on advancing the skills and collaboration of teachers to improve their own practice and that of their colleagues in ways that ultimately support the creation of more rich and meaningful learning experiences for students.

At his school, he serves as the Coordinator for the All Pro Dad’s Initiative, which encourages positive, healthy relationships between fathers and their children. He has presented at various educational institutions throughout the state of Florida, focusing on the need to retain a robust, sustainable teaching base.
